You roll five dice to score points. You can roll the dice up to three times each turn. You can keep any dice you like and re-roll the rest. The goal is to make special groups. A "Yahtzee" is when all five dice show the same number. This earns 50 points. That is the highest score for one group!

A game has thirteen rounds. Each round, you must pick one category box to fill. Once you use a box, you cannot use it again. There are two main sections on the scorecard. The upper section has boxes for each number from one to six. If you score well there, you get a 35-point bonus. The lower section has groups like a Full House. A Full House is three of one number and two of another. It is worth 25 points. You can also aim for a Small Straight or a Large Straight. These are groups of dice in a row. A large tournament happens every January in California. It helps raise money for local groups.
