Two to six people play it together. The game uses a map of the world. This map has 42 territories. These lands are grouped into six continents.

Players use small pieces to show their armies. These pieces can be wooden cubes or plastic shapes. Some pieces look like Roman numerals. In some versions, they look like soldiers or tanks.

Players move these armies to take new lands. They use dice to decide who wins a battle.

Red dice are for the attacker. White or blue dice are for the defender.

Players can also form alliances to help each other. The main goal is to take over every land on the board. This means all other players are out of the game. Some versions use secret missions to make the game faster. Albert Lamorisse invented the game in 1957. It is still very popular today. You can play it on a table or on a phone.
