Players take turns in a circle. You usually pick up a card from the stock. The stock is a face-down pile in the middle. Then you must discard one card to the discard pile. You want to be the first to use all your cards. This is called going out.

People have many ideas about where Rummy began. Some think it started in Mexico in the 1890s. Others think it came from games in Asia. Many different versions exist today. Some are called Gin or Canasta. Indian Rummy is also very popular. It uses thirteen cards for each player. You can play with one deck or even two decks. It is a fun way to play with friends.
