Some sets have bonus tiles too. These show flowers and seasons.

Players start with 13 tiles. On each turn, you draw a tile. Then you discard one tile. You try to make sets. You want to finish a legal hand. A winning hand needs four sets and one pair.

Mixing the tiles is a big part of the game. Players use both hands to shuffle them. This makes a loud clacking sound. Some people say it sounds like birds. In many Chinese languages, the game is called sparrow. This is because the tiles sound like birds chatting.
