Roohangiz Saminejad was a famous actress from Iran.

She is known for a very special role. She played a character named Golnar. This was in a film called Lor Girl. That film came out in 1934. It was the first film made in the Persian language. It was also the first film with talking sounds. This made her the first star of a talkie film in Iran.

She did not start as a professional actress. She was actually the wife of a film company worker. A man named Abdolhossein Sepenta found her. He had been looking for a specific look for his film. He almost gave up hope of finding the right person. Then he discovered Roohangiz. She had a strong Kermani accent from her home province. The writers had to change the script to match her speech.

Her career in the movies was quite short. She only acted in one more film. That movie was called Shirin and Farhad. This film was also made by Sepenta. Even though she was a star, her life changed a lot. She faced many hard times because of her work. The culture at that time was very conservative.

Being an actress brought her social trouble. Some people treated her poorly because of her job. This is called social ostracism. She also faced harassment from men when she was in public. These experiences were very difficult for her. Because of this, she had to change her name. She lived a life of anonymity and seclusion.

Roohangiz Saminejad lived from 1916 to 1997. She was born in the year 1916. She passed away on April 3, 1997. Her story is part of the history of Iranian cinema. She was a pioneer in the early days of talking films. Her work helped start a new way of telling stories. We remember her for her place in film history.
