Some baby Dorudon had bite marks on their skulls. These marks might come from a hungry Basilosaurus.

Dorudon was a medium-sized whale. One kind, called Dorudon atrox, is well known. Its nose was in the middle of its head. This is different from whales today. These whales also lacked a melon. A melon is a part of the head that helps whales use sound to find things. Because they lacked this, they could not use echolocation as well as modern whales. They used their teeth to eat small fish and mollusks. Mollusks are animals with shells, like clams.

Their teeth had many different shapes to help them eat.
