There are two kinds of these dolphins. The northern kind lives in the North Pacific. The southern kind lives in the southern part of the world. They live in large groups called pods. Some pods have hundreds of dolphins. Other groups may have 3,000 animals!

These dolphins are very fast. They can swim over 40 km/h. They can even leap 7 metres out of the water. They can live for about 40 years. In the north, some dolphins follow squid to find food. Scientists say the northern kind is very smart. It has a high encephalization quotient. This is a way to measure how smart an animal is. Their score is the highest after humans.
