Adjaye uses many clever ways to design his buildings. He often thinks about how light enters a room. For the Museum of Contemporary Art in Denver, he used hidden skylights. These skylights fill the art rooms with natural light. He also uses large windows to connect people inside to the streets outside. In other projects, he uses shapes from traditional art. His museum in Washington, D.C. uses a crown motif from Yoruba sculpture.
