He makes installations, which are large works built for specific places. He also makes conceptual art, which focuses on big ideas. His work often makes people feel wonder or surprise. Some of his pieces make things look like they are disappearing. Other works invite people to walk inside them. He uses many different materials to do this.

Kapoor uses many ways to make his art. In the 1980s, he used bright colored powders called pigments. He made pieces called "A Thousand Names" that sat on floors. These looked like icebergs poking out of the ground.

Kapoor's art connects to the world around us in many ways. His mirror-like sculptures reflect the people looking at them. This makes the viewer part of the art. Some of his works, like the ArcelorMittal Orbit, are part of big parks. He even used a canvas on an oil rig to talk about weather. His work can be very large, like the 35-meter-high Taratantara. These huge shapes change how we feel about the buildings around them. He uses art to explore ideas like light, darkness, and even nothingness.
