Many people call her Mata Rani or Sherawali. She is seen as a combined form of three great goddesses. These are Mahakali, Mahalakshmi, and Mahasarasvati. By joining their energies, they created one divine power. This power was meant to protect the world and its goodness. This special goddess is often seen as an unmarried form of Mahalakshmi.

One famous legend explains how she arrived on Earth. During a time called the Treta Yuga, many bad forces were causing trouble. The three goddesses joined their strengths to create a girl named Vaishnavi. She was born to a man named Ratnakar Sagar in Southern India. Her father named her Trikuta. Her mission was to uphold dharma, which means living in a way that is right and good. She eventually traveled to the Trikuta mountains in North India to meditate.

Another story involves a very faithful man named Shridhar. He lived in a village called Hansali, near Katra. Shridhar wanted a child and prayed very hard to the goddess. The goddess appeared to him as a young girl. She asked him to host a large feast for the village. During this feast, a man named Bhaironath arrived with many followers. He tried to test the girl's power by acting unkindly. The girl then fled up the Trikuta mountain to find a quiet place.

The path she took is now a famous pilgrimage route. As she ran, she created a stream called Ban Ganga to help her attendant. She also left footprints on rocks called Charan Paduka. She eventually hid in a cave to meditate for nine months. The shrine is located high up on Trikuta Parvat. It sits at an elevation of 5,200 feet above sea level. Inside the cave, people see three natural rock formations known as Pindis. These Pindis represent the three original goddesses.

Many people visit this holy place to show their respect. They follow the same paths that the legends describe. Some stories, like the legend of Baba Jittoo, show how the goddess helps poor people. These stories say she protects those who are treated unfairly. Whether through ancient texts or local folklore, her story remains very important. Devotees believe she stays in the cave to pray for the future. This makes the mountain a very special place for many people around the world.
