One person is chosen to be "it." This person runs to touch others with their hand. When you are touched, you become "it." This is a simple way to play.

Players use many ways to pick who is "it." You might use rock paper scissors. Some groups play a game where you put your feet in a circle. The last person to pull their foot out becomes "it."

You can also play in a circle, like in Duck, Duck, Goose.

Many games have safe spots. You might be safe if you touch a wall or a tree. This safe spot is often called a "base." In the UK, people often call a base a "den." In Canada, some call it "times."

People have played chase games for a very long time. In India, games like kho-kho are very old. They have been played since the fourth century BC. Some of these games are now big sports.
