One person is the leader. They are called the curator. The leader stands at one end of a field. All other players stand far away at the other end. The goal is to tag the leader. If you tag them, you become the new leader.

To start, the leader turns their back to the field. The players race to get close. But the leader can turn around at any time! When the leader faces the players, everyone must freeze. You must hold your position like a statue. Some people play very strictly. They might watch for any movement, like a swaying arm. Others only care if your feet move. Most people allow blinking and breathing.

There are many ways to play this game. In North America, people call it Red Light, Green Light. This name comes from traffic lights. In Bulgaria, a version is called Winnie the Pooh. In that game, the leader shouts a rhyme before turning around. People all over the world have their own names for this game. It is a great way to play together in a big space.
