The main goal is for one or more players to catch others. To do this, the person who is "it" must touch another player with their hand. Once someone is touched, they become the new "it." This simple rule makes the game move fast and keeps everyone running. Some people call it chase, tig, or tips depending on where they live. It is a game that brings people together through movement and quick thinking.

There are many ways to start and play the game.

To pick the first "it," players might use rock paper scissors or a counting game. Some groups put their feet in a circle and the last person to pull their foot out becomes "it." Once the game starts, players try to avoid being touched. You can make the game more interesting with special rules. For example, "no tag-backs" means you cannot immediately tag the person who just tagged you. Some versions even use safe zones called "bases" or "dens" where you cannot be caught.

People have enjoyed chasing games for thousands of years. An ancient Greek poem from the fourth century BC describes a game where a "tortoise" chases other kids. In India, games like kho-kho and kabaddi have roots that go back to at least 300 AD. These games are so important that they are now part of big events like the Asian Games. Some people think the Bengali game gollachut might represent ancient history from the Indus Valley Civilization. This shows that chasing others is a very old way to have fun.
