It sits on the south-eastern coast of the Baltic Sea. The land stretches from the Vistula delta in the west to the Curonian Spit in the east. It also reaches inland toward a place called Masuria. Today, this area is split between three different countries. Part of it is in Poland, part is in Russia, and a small part is in Lithuania.

Long ago, many different groups of people lived on this land. The Old Prussians were one important group of people. They spoke a variety of Baltic languages. Some people say the name Prussia comes from a priest named Pruteno.

Other groups like the Goths and the Vikings also visited or settled nearby. The Vikings used the Baltic Sea as a path for trading. They even visited large trade centers like Truso and Kaup.

In the 1200s, the history of the region changed a lot. The Teutonic Knights came to the land to fight and rule. They were a group of religious knights who built a strong state.

The region was often part of larger lands like Poland or Germany. Leaders sometimes merged different areas to form the Kingdom of Prussia. Later, the land was split into West Prussia and East Prussia.

These borders moved many times because of wars and new treaties.

Today, the old region of Prussia looks very different. After big wars in the 1940s, the borders changed once more.

Many German-speaking people had to leave the area. Now, the land is divided into many modern places. You can see this in the different coats of arms for cities.
