Freuchen often traveled with a famous explorer named Knud Rasmussen. Together, they set up a trading post in Greenland. They named this place Thule. They chose this name because it was the most northerly post in the world. This base helped them lead seven big trips. These trips were called the Thule Expeditions. They took place between 1912 and 1933. One trip involved crossing the huge inland ice sheet. It was a very dangerous journey.
