The land in Chaozhou is very interesting to look at. About 65% of the area is made of hills and mountains. You might see the high peaks of Phoenix Mountain or the three mountains known as the Lords of the Three Mountains. Two big rivers, the Han and the Huanggang, flow through the territory. The Han River runs right through the middle of the downtown area. These rivers provide plenty of water for the people and the plants.

Because of the different types of land, people grow many different things. In the wide mountainous areas to the north, farmers grow tea. In the lower areas, they grow bamboo, peaches, and pineapples. The fertile banks of the Han River are perfect for rice and sweet potatoes. You can also find peanuts, soybeans, carrots, and bananas growing there. This variety of food comes from the different heights and soil in the region.

Chaozhou has a history that goes back thousands of years. Scientists found old sites showing that people lived there 5,000 to 6,000 years ago. These early ancestors were busy with fishing, farming, and hunting. Over time, the city changed names many times through different dynasties. In the modern era, the city's status changed as it grew. It is now a prefecture-level city with over 2.5 million people living there.

The culture in Chaozhou is very special and unique. People speak the Teochew dialect, which uses many old words. They also enjoy Chaozhou opera, a traditional art form that is over 500 years old.
