Players ride fast horses to win. They try to grab a goat or calf carcass. Then they carry it to a goal.

There are different ways to play. In Tudabarai, the goal is simple. A player grabs the prize and moves away. In Qarajai, the game is harder. Riders must carry the prize around a marker. Then they throw it into a scoring circle.

The game is very tough. Riders wear heavy clothes to stay safe. Some even wear old tank helmets for protection. They use whips to help move their horses. A skilled player is called a chapandaz. These masters are often in their forties. They must practice very hard to play well.

Many groups play similar games. In Kazakhstan, they call it kokpar.
