It is played by athletes with severe physical disabilities. Many players use wheelchairs to compete. The goal is to throw leather balls near a white target ball. This white ball is called the jack.

Players use red or blue balls. They can use their hands or feet to throw. Some players use an assistive device called a ramp. This helps them move the ball onto the court.

Games can be played by one person, a pair, or a team. In a team, players work together to win. A referee measures the balls at the end of each round. You get one point for every ball closer to the jack than the other side. The person with the most points wins.

Boccia is a Paralympic sport. This means it is part of the big games for athletes with disabilities. Many countries play it now. In the 2020 games, Japan, Thailand, and Slovakia won many medals. It is a sport that people all over the world love to play.
