Bhilwara is a major city in the Mewar region of Rajasthan, India. It is a busy place known as the "textile city." This name comes from its huge cloth industry. The city sits near Ajmer to the north. It is also close to Chittorgarh and Udaipur to the south. Many people visit to see its famous factories and art.

The city is famous for making many kinds of fabric. There are more than 850 manufacturing units in the town. They make high-quality cotton, silk, and woolen fabrics. They even make the synthetic fabric used for trousers. This cloth is sent to many different countries around the world. The industry grew after companies like Mewar Textile Mills started in 1938. Later, new units for synthetic textiles began in 1961.

Bhilwara has a very long and interesting history. Archaeologists found stone tools there from a long time ago. Some of these tools are up to 200,000 years old! There are many stories about the city's name too. One story says it comes from the Bheel tribe. Another says it comes from a place where 'Bhiladi' coins were made. You can still see the Bada Mandir, an old temple from the 11th century.

The land around the city has many rivers. The Banas, Bedach, and Kothari are some of the main ones. There are no natural lakes in the district. Instead, people use many ponds and dams for farming. This makes the area very good for irrigation. One popular spot is Mansarovar Jheel. It is a man-made pond near Azad Nagar. It often gets crowded with visitors on the weekends.

Art and learning are also very important here. Artists make Phad paintings, which tell stories on cloth. They use colors found in nature to make them. The city has many schools and big colleges too. Students can study engineering or medicine there. You can reach the city by a large railway station. It connects Bhilwara to many big cities like Delhi and Mumbai.
