These events bring together athletes who love to push their limits. People compete in many different ways, like skateboarding or BMX biking. Some athletes ride motorcycles in freestyle motocross. In the winter, they use skis or snowboards.

It is more than just a sports contest, though. The games also feature live music and DJs. Families can enjoy interactive exhibitions and meet their favorite athletes at autograph sessions. This mix of music and culture makes the event feel like a big celebration.

Athletes work very hard to win medals and prize money. They aim for gold, silver, or bronze. Many of these competitors perform tricks that have never been seen before. For example, Tony Hawk landed a famous 900-degree spin in 1999. Dave Mirra landed a double backflip on a BMX bike in 2000. Travis Pastrana also won the first Moto X Freestyle event. Other stars like Shaun White and Henrik Harlaut have shown off amazing moves on snow. These moments show the incredible skill and bravery of the participants.

The X Games started a long time ago in 1995. The first summer events were held in Rhode Island. The first Winter X Games took place in 1997 at Snow Summit in California.

Over the years, the games have moved to many new places. For example, the Winter X Games have been held in Colorado and Vermont. Since 2002, the winter events have stayed in Aspen at Buttermilk Mountain. The games are also owned by a firm called MSP Sports Capital. This firm was started by Jahm Najafi and Jeff Moorad.

Many people love to watch these games in person. In 1997, 38,000 people came to the first Winter X Games. By 2000, a record 83,500 people attended the Winter X Games East Coast debut. The games have also grown to reach people all over the world. They have held events in places like Japan, Germany, and Brazil. In 2003, a Global Championship saw athletes from five different continents compete. This shows how much interest there is in action sports across the globe.

Watching the X Games is a special experience for fans. In 2002, the games were televised live for the very first time. This helped even more people see the amazing tricks on TV. Even the way we watch has changed with new technology. During the 2015 games in Aspen, ESPN used camera drones. These drones helped fans see the athletes from high in the air. The X Games also care about the planet. They use biodiesel fuel in vehicles and run recycling campaigns to stay eco-friendly.
