He lived from 1478 to 1530. He founded a group known as the Puṣṭimārga sect. This group focuses on the god Krṣṇa. He also taught a philosophy called Śuddhādvaita. This is a specific way of thinking about the world. Vallabha believed that people could find salvation through loving devotion to Krṣṇa. He taught that a person could live a normal life with a family and still be devoted. This was different from people who thought you had to live alone as an ascetic to find peace.

Vallabha spent much of his life traveling and studying. He traveled across the Indian subcontinent for over 20 years. He spent a lot of time in the Braj region. During his travels, he became a leader in the Bhakti movement. This movement focused on deep devotion to a god. He also won many scholarly debates against other thinkers. He used his knowledge to show why his ideas were important. These debates helped him gain many followers in places like Gujarat and the Gangetic plain.

Many stories describe how Vallabha began his life. Some texts say he was born in the forests of Campāraṇya. These stories say his birth was a miracle. One story says his parents found him alive near a tree after thinking he was stillborn. Another story says he appeared in a pool of fire in Mathurā. His family was from a Telugu Brahmin background. They lived in a village called Kāṅkaravāḍa near the Godāvarī River. These stories help his followers understand his special purpose in the world.

Vallabha also started a special way to worship the deity Śrī Nāthajī. He began this worship on Govardhana Hill.

He wrote many important books about his ideas. These include the Aṇubhāṣya and several commentaries on the Bhāgavata Purāṇa. Many different books tell stories about his life. Some of these books were written in the 16th century. Others were written much later, in the 18th or 19th centuries. Because these books were written at different times, they sometimes tell different stories about him.

Today, many people still follow the path Vallabha started. After he died, his son Gopīnātha took over the leadership. The stories of his life show him as a very powerful person. Some texts describe him as a "world-conqueror" who won debates in many places. One famous story says he won a big debate at the court of King Kr̥ṣṇadevarāya. In this story, the king gave him much gold for his skill. Whether these stories are historical or symbolic, they show how much his followers respect him. He remains a central figure for those in the Puṣṭimārga tradition.
