The museum works by showing many different types of art. It has many rooms for paintings and sculptures. For a long time, the museum used 45 to 50 rooms for paintings. Today, you can even view some art online through Google Arts and Culture.

The history of the building began a long time ago. Giorgio Vasari started building the complex in 1560. He worked for a leader named Cosimo I de' Medici. The name Uffizi means "offices." This is because it was built to hold many government groups. Alfonso Parigi and Bernardo Buontalenti helped finish the building in 1581.

Later, the last Medici heiress, Anna Maria Luisa, gave the art to Florence. She did this through a famous family pact.

There are many important facts about the museum's size and visitors. In 2016, over two million people visited the Uffizi. A big project finished in 2006 to make the space larger. The museum grew from 6,000 square metres to almost 13,000 square metres. This helped show art that was usually kept in storage.

In 2020, the museum closed for 150 days because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Even so, it was still the 27th most visited museum in the world that year.

The Uffizi connects us to the past and the present. It shows us how people lived and worked in the Renaissance. You can see ancient sculptures like the Venus de' Medici there. The building itself is a piece of history. Architects even study its long courtyard.
