Some people call it Yantra yoga. It is a Vajrayana discipline. This means it belongs to a specific path in Tibetan Buddhism. This practice helps people work with their bodies and their breath. It is a very important way to practice in the Dzogchen tradition. In this tradition, people believe the mind is like wind in the body. This wind is called vayu. Working with the body is a key part of this path.

There are many steps in a Trul khor practice.

A traditional set has 108 different movements. These movements include dynamic asanas, which are body postures. People also use pranayama, which is a way to control the breath. Some practitioners use mantras, which are special words or incantations. They might also use visualizations in their minds. These steps all work together as one system. The goal is to help people find a natural state.

This practice has a very long history.

It comes from the instructions of the mahasiddhas. These were great sages from India. They founded the Vajrayana tradition between the 3rd and 13th centuries CE. Later, the practice was also part of the Bon tradition. A famous master named Shardza Tashi Gyaltsen wrote a commentary on it. Another important person was Vairotsana, who wrote a practical yoga manual. These old teachings still guide people today.

Trul khor focuses on how energy moves.

People believe in an illusory body made of energy. This is sometimes called the vajra body. This body uses energy currents called rlung or prana. These currents flow through pathways called channels. There are three main channels in this system. They are named ida, pingala, and sushumna. These channels are very important for understanding the body and mind. You can even see art of these moves in the Lukhang temple.

Many teachers have shared these ideas with the world.

Namkhai Norbu Rinpoche was a famous proponent of this practice. He lived from 1938 to 2018. He liked to use the English name Yantra yoga. He founded the International Dzogchen Community in Italy. He started teaching there after 1975 at a place called Merigar. Other writers like Tenzin Wangyal Rinpoche have also written about these sacred practices. This helps people learn about the traditions of Tibet.
