In Mongolia, the track is mostly a single track. This means only one train can pass at a time. Some parts have a double track. This lets two trains pass each other. The railway helps move many things. It carries most of the goods in Mongolia. It also carries many people. Many branch lines go to mines. These mines provide coal and copper. At the Chinese border, something special happens. The tracks change their gauge. A gauge is the width between the rails. The Russian track is 1,520 mm wide. The Chinese track is 1,435 mm wide. Workers must change the bogies. A bogie is the wheel part under a train car. This allows the train to use the new tracks.
