He lived during a time when Rome was very powerful. He is best known for writing about the lives of great leaders. His work helps us see what life was like in the past. Many people today still read his stories to learn about history. He was a very dedicated writer who studied many different subjects.

Suetonius had a very organized way of writing his books. In his most famous work, he used a set formula for each person. He would first describe how a leader looked. Then he wrote about omens and family history. He also included famous quotes and a history of their lives. This helped readers understand each ruler in a similar way. It made his large collection of stories easy to follow.

He was likely born around AD 69. Many scholars believe he came from a town called Hippo Regius. This town is in modern-day Algeria. His father was a man named Suetonius Laetus. He was a member of the equestrian order in a Roman legion. Suetonius grew up learning how to speak and write well in Rome. He was a very quiet and studious man.

Suetonius worked for two very important Roman emperors. He served the Emperor Trajan as a secretary of studies. He also worked as a director of the Imperial archives. Later, he became a secretary for the Emperor Hadrian. His friend, a writer named Pliny the Younger, helped him in his career. Pliny even helped him buy a small piece of land. These connections allowed him to work close to the center of power.

His most famous book is called "The Twelve Caesars."
