The airline works by flying many different types of large planes. It uses aircraft from companies named Airbus and Boeing. Some of these planes are the Airbus A350-900 and the Airbus A380. Singapore Airlines has a long history that began with a split. It used to be part of Malaysia–Singapore Airlines, known as MSA. In 1972, the airline became its own separate company. The government of Singapore owns 55% of the voting stock. A company called Temasek Holdings holds this majority share. The airline is based in a building called Airline House. This building used to be a hangar at Changi Airport.

There are many important numbers and facts about how the airline grows. In 2023, the airline had 14,803 employees. It also carried 18.1 million passengers that year. The airline has a fleet of 133 jets. It flies to many places across five different continents. Some flights are very long, like the 15,300 km trip to New York. That flight can take 19 hours in the air.
