The company is based in a suburb called Mascot. This is right next to the main airport in Sydney.

Flying long distances involves many different steps. Qantas uses large hubs in Sydney, Perth, Melbourne, and Brisbane.

From these hubs, planes fly to Africa, Asia, Europe, and North America. They also reach South America. The airline uses different types of planes for different jobs. For example, it uses Jetstar to offer lower prices for travelers.

Some planes fly short paths within Australia. Other huge planes fly very long paths across the oceans.

Qantas has a very long history. It was started on November 16, 1920. Three men named Hudson Fysh, Paul McGinness, and Fergus McMaster founded it.

Its first name was Queensland and Northern Territory Aerial Services. The first plane they used was an Avro 504K. In 1934, they formed a new company called Qantas Empire Airways. This helped them start flying to places like Singapore. In 1959, the airline entered the jet age with the Boeing 707.

In 2019, a flight from New York to Sydney took 19 hours and 20 minutes. This was the longest commercial flight at that time. The airline also has a plan called Project Sunrise. This project aims to fly non-stop from Sydney to New York. These flights will help people cross the huge distance more easily.

Traveling by air is something most people understand. We see planes in the sky every day. Qantas helps connect the world through these flights. It works with other airlines in the Oneworld alliance. This means many different airlines work together.

Even when things are hard, like during the COVID-19 pandemic, airlines keep working. Qantas had to ground many planes during that time. Now, they are bringing many of their large planes back into service. They are even ordering new planes to fly even further in the future.
