These tall stone towers stand near the town of Jičín. They are located in a region called Bohemian Paradise. In the Czech language, people call this area Český ráj. This site is a very important natural reserve. It has been protected since the year 1933. This protection helps keep the rocks safe for everyone.

The rocks began as a large, flat area called a plateau. This plateau formed over 60 million years ago. Over a long time, the rock changed its shape. Wind and rain hit the sandstone every day. This process is called erosion. Erosion is when wind and water wear away stone. These forces carved the flat land into tall towers.

People have given the rock towers many fun names. These names come from how the stones look. One tower is called the Elephant. Another tower looks like an Eagle. You can also find the Monk at the site. There is a place called the Devil's Kitchen. One tower is even called the Leaning Tower. Each rock looks like something else from nature.

The area is a famous spot for making movies. Many films and TV shows use these rocks as a set. For example, they filmed the movie Little Mermaid here. Other shows include Britannia and Hellboy. You might also see it in Foundation or Nosferatu. Even Carnival Row and Van Helsing used this place. It is a great place for stories.

You can think of the rocks like a giant sculpture. Instead of a person using tools, nature used the weather. The wind and rain act like tiny hammers. They slowly chip away at the sandstone over millions of years. This is how the towers grew from a flat plateau. Now, the rocks are part of the Hradec Králové Region. They are a wonder of the natural world.
