Otto Rank was a famous thinker. He was born in Vienna in 1884. He worked closely with Sigmund Freud. They both studied the human mind. Rank was a writer and a doctor. He wrote many books about art and myths.

In 1924, Rank wrote a book called "The Trauma of Birth." This book changed how people thought about growth. He said the shock of being born is very important. He believed this event shapes how we feel and act. This idea caused a split between him and Freud. Rank wanted to focus on how people connect with others. He believed therapy should be a shared experience.

Rank also studied creativity. He looked at great artists like Leonardo da Vinci. He thought being creative helps people grow. He said people must learn to let go of old ideas. This helps them find new ways to live. Rank moved to New York later in life. He died there in 1939. His ideas still help many doctors and teachers today. They use his work to help people be more creative.
