Melanie Klein was a famous thinker.

She studied how the minds of young children work. She was a leader in object relations theory. This is a way of thinking about how people relate to others. In this theory, an "object" is a person or thing that brings up feelings.

Klein used a new way to help children. She called it the play technique. She watched children play with toys like dolls or pencils. She believed play shows what a child is thinking deep inside. This is called the unconscious mind.

She also studied how babies bond with their mothers. She saw that babies show love very early. They might smile or cuddle to show they are happy. Klein also studied how children deal with hard feelings. She spoke about the paranoid-schizoid position. This is when a child sees things as only good or only bad. Later, they may reach the depressive position. This is when they learn that good and bad things can be part of the same person.
