In the 1990s, Land worked at the University of Warwick. He helped start a group called the CCRU. This group studied many things. They looked at science, stories, and even magic. Land also made up a new word. He called it hyperstition. This is an idea that makes itself real.

Later, Land moved to Shanghai in China. He became known for new ideas called the Dark Enlightenment. These ideas oppose democracy. He also wrote stories that were like horror books.

Some people think his work affects art and music. Others say his ideas are very different from old ways of thinking. He has had many different roles in his life. He has moved from being a teacher to a writer on the internet. His work stays a topic of much talk today.
