Nick Bostrom is a philosopher. He studies the future of people. He thinks about big risks. These are risks that could end life on Earth. He calls these existential risks.

Bostrom thinks about new tools. He looks at things like smart machines. He calls this superintelligence. This is a mind that is much smarter than any human. He says this could bring many good things. But it could also be very dangerous. He thinks we must make sure these machines follow human values. This helps keep us safe.

He also studies how humans can improve. This is called human enhancement. He wrote a story about a dragon. The dragon represents death. The story asks why people do not fight aging.

Bostrom has written many books. One famous book is called Superintelligence. He also worked at the University of Oxford. He helped start a group called the Future of Humanity Institute. This group studied the far future. He wants humans and digital minds to live well together. He hopes they can both thrive.
