Heidegger wrote a very important book. It was called Being and Time. In this book, he asked a big question. He wanted to know what it means for things to exist. He used a special word called Dasein. This word means "being-there." It describes how humans live in the world. His ideas changed how many people think about life. Many other thinkers learned from him.

His life was also very difficult. In 1933, he joined the Nazi Party. He became the leader of his university. This part of his life is a big problem for many people. They wonder if his ideas are tied to his politics. After the war, he was not allowed to teach for a time. He later returned to teaching in 1950. He died in 1976 at age 86.
