He was a psychoanalyst. This is a person who studies how minds work. He also worked as a philosopher and a writer.

Guattari worked at a special clinic called La Borde. At this clinic, he did not just talk to one person at a time. Instead, he used group therapy. This is a way to help people by having them talk in a group. This helped him study how people act together.

He worked closely with a friend named Gilles Deleuze. They wrote famous books together. These books were called *Anti-Oedipus* and *A Thousand Plateaus*. They wrote about how society and power work. Guattari also had his own ideas about the earth. He called this idea ecosophy.

Guattari was very active in politics. He joined many groups to fight for change. He even helped with environmental movements. He wanted to find new ways for people to be free. He died in 1992 from a heart attack. People still read his books to learn about the world.
