Many Christians hold a belief called the New Earth. This idea is a main part of Christian teachings about the end of time. It is often called the "world to come." This concept appears in several parts of the Bible. You can find it in the Book of Isaiah and the second letter of Peter. It is also described in the Book of Revelation.

In the Book of Revelation, a person named John sees a special vision. This vision shows a new heaven and a new earth. The old order of things will pass away. In this new state, things will be perfect. There will be no more death or mourning. There will be no more crying or pain. The Bible says God will wipe every tear from people's eyes.

Scholars look closely at the Greek words used in the Bible. There are two different words for "new." One word is "neos." The other word is "kainos." Some say "kainos" means something is renovated or restored. It is not a totally different thing. Instead, it is like a person who has been made better. The person stays the same, but their quality is transformed. This might mean the earth is cleaned or rebuilt.

The Roman Catholic Church has specific teachings about this. They link the New Earth to a "New Creation." They believe this is tied to the act of Baptism. They see it as a way to live with God forever. On Judgment Day, they believe heaven will unite with the universe. This place is sometimes called the "New Jerusalem." It is seen as the final home and reign of God.

Some thinkers have shared different ideas about how this world works. Saint Thomas Aquinas wrote about this in his work. He argued the New Earth would have both spiritual and material parts. However, he also taught that it would lack unnecessary things. He suggested there would be no need for eating or cooking. There might not even be animals or plants. This shows how many different ways people wonder about this future.
