Mihira Bhoja was a famous emperor in India. He ruled the Pratihara Empire from 836 to 885 CE. His father was named Ramabhadra. When Bhoja took over, the empire was in a weak state. He worked very hard to change this. He turned his land into a large and wealthy empire.

He was a very important leader during the ninth century.

Bhoja was a very skilled general and a smart diplomat. He first made his own lands strong by defeating rebels in Rajasthan. After that, he fought against the Pala and Rastrakuta kingdoms. He even took part in a war for the throne of Gujarat. He led a raid of horse riders into that land. He was able to keep control of parts of Gujarat and Malwa.

He also fought to push Arab invaders out of Kutch.

His empire grew to cover a huge amount of land. The empire reached the Narmada River in the south. It stretched to the Sutlej River in the northwest. It also reached all the way to Bengal in the east. Some records say his land reached even further to Kashmir. His capital city was located at Kannauj in present-day Uttar Pradesh. The empire also included the district of Etawah.

Bhoja had a very mighty army to protect his people. A Persian text says his army had 150,000 cavalry. These were soldiers who fought on horses. He also had 800 war elephants. He was a follower of the god Vishnu. Because of this, he used the title Adivaraha. This title means the fortunate primeval boar.

We can learn about Bhoja through his special coins. These coins are called Adivaraha dramma coins. They were made of silver or copper. Some copper coins were even coated in silver. The coins show a picture of the god Adivaraha. They also show a solar wheel and a lotus flower. These coins help us understand his rule and his faith. After he died, his son Mahendrapala I became the next leader.
