It is the biggest and most crowded province in the country. The capital city, Warsaw, sits right in the center. Warsaw is a very busy place with many people living there. Other important cities include Radom to the south and Płock to the west. You can also find Siedlce in the east and Ostrołęka in the north. This province is a major center for science, research, and schools. It is also a very wealthy region with many jobs available.

Nature is a big part of life in this province. More than 20% of the land is covered by forests. These woods are mostly made of pine and oak trees. One very special place is the Kampinos National Park. This park is a UNESCO biosphere reserve, which means it is important to the whole world.

You might even see a moose living in the park. There are also nine other landscape parks for people to explore. These green spaces make the province a popular place for tourists.

The history of this land goes back a very long time. In the early Middle Ages, a Polish tribe called the Masovians lived here. Płock was once the capital of all of Poland from 1079 to 1138.

In Płock, you can visit Cathedral Hill to see very old buildings. These buildings hold the tombs of many Polish kings. Later, King Sigismund III Vasa moved the capital from Kraków to Warsaw in 1596. This change made Warsaw a very important center for the country.

There were many hard times in the history of the region. During the 18th and 19th centuries, there were several uprisings against foreign rule. The region also faced great sadness during World War II. Germany occupied the area and caused much harm to the people living there. They ran many prisons and camps, including the Treblinka extermination camp. This was a very dark time for the people of Poland. Today, the province stands as a strong and rebuilt part of the nation.

Traveling through Masovia is easy because of many paths and roads. Three major international roads pass through the province to connect different countries.
