This region has a very long history. Parts of this land have been in Poland since the 10th century. Many towns, like Łęczyca and Sieradz, were very old during the Middle Ages. These places were once seats for the Piast dynasty. Later, the area grew very fast during the Industrial Revolution. Between 1807 and 1823, many textile factories were built. This helped towns like Ozorków and Zduńska Wola develop quickly.
