Kaduna State is a large part of northern Nigeria. It sits on high plains in the northwest part of the country.

The Kaduna River flows through this land. This river is a tributary of the much larger Niger River. The state is the fourth largest in Nigeria by land area. It is also the third most populous state in the country. Many different states sit near its borders, including Zamfara, Katsina, and Kano.

The land in Kaduna has a special look and feel. It is part of the Sudan Savannah. This means you will see scattered short trees, shrubs, and grasses. The soil is often sandy or loamy, and there is also a lot of clay.

The weather changes with the seasons. The rainy season is hot, cloudy, and humid. The dry season is hot and partly cloudy. Most of the time, temperatures stay between 55 °F and 95 °F.

Kaduna has a very deep and ancient history. Some of Africa's oldest civilizations, like the Nok, lived here long ago. In the 9th century, a historian named Ya'qubi wrote about the Hausa Kingdoms in this region. Later, the area became part of the Sokoto Caliphate. The city of Zaria was said to be founded in 1536.

During the colonial era, the British moved their capital to Kaduna City in 1916. This changed how the region was run for many years.

Today, Kaduna is known as the "Centre of Learning." This is because it has many important schools and universities. These include Ahmadu Bello University and the Nigerian Defence Academy. The state economy relies heavily on farming. Farmers grow cotton and groundnuts to sell.

People also use the land to grow tomatoes and peppers. There are also many ways to communicate, with 21 different radio stations in the state.

Many different groups of people call Kaduna home. There are about 60 different ethnic groups living here. The Hausa and Fulani are two of the largest groups. Because there are so many groups, there have been times of conflict. There were violent riots in 2002 and attacks by bandits in recent years. These difficult events have caused people to lose their homes or their lives.
