Internet culture is the way people act, share, and connect through digital networks. It is made of many parts like shared jokes, special languages, and common rules. These customs help people find others who like the same things. People use the internet for many things, such as news or entertainment. It has become a universal way for people to talk to each other. This culture can even change how people behave in real life.

Many different types of websites help this culture grow. Some sites, like Reddit or Stack Overflow, use boards where people ask questions.

Other sites, called wikis, let many people work together on one big project. People use Wikipedia or GitHub to build shared knowledge. Social media sites like Instagram or TikTok help people show their lives. Even gaming worlds like Roblox let people build their own digital spaces. Each site has its own design that changes how we interact.

This digital way of living has a long history. Before the modern web, people shared ideas through radio and fan clubs. In the 1970s and 1980s, people used bulletin board systems to talk. These early spaces helped people learn how to follow online rules. A big change happened in September 1993. This was when America Online gave many new users access to Usenet. This event is called the "eternal September." It brought a huge wave of new people to the internet.

Internet culture is also about how we share ideas through memes. A meme is a digital item that people copy and change.

People use image macros or short videos to spread these memes. They move very fast from one platform to another. Some people use the internet to be creative by "remixing" things. This means they take an old idea and make it new. This kind of sharing is called participatory culture. It allows anyone to be an artist or a creator.

The internet used to be mostly in English. In the 1990s, about 80% of web content was in English. By 2018, that number dropped to about 52.9%. This shows that the internet is becoming more diverse. Now, people from all over the world use many different languages. This helps more cultures join the global conversation. As technology changes, internet culture will keep changing too. It stays connected to our personal devices every day.
