Gustav Fechner was a famous German scientist. He lived from 1801 to 1887. He helped start a new field called psychophysics. This is a way to measure how the mind works.

Fechner wanted to link the mind to the physical world. He found a math rule for this. It shows how our feelings change with physical things. For example, it explains how we feel light or sound. This rule is called Fechner's Law.

He also studied how we see color. He found the Fechner color effect. This happens when you see colors in moving black and white patterns.

Fechner studied many other things too. He looked at how we pick the best shapes. He found a ratio called the golden section. Many people think this shape is very pretty. He also studied synesthesia. This is when people see colors when they see letters.

Fechner had many big ideas. He thought the whole universe was alive. He believed even the stars had a soul. He was a pioneer who changed how we study the mind.
