Even though he could have had a steady job, he chose to travel. He spent over 40 years seeing the world. He wanted to record everything he saw and heard.

To keep his memories, he wrote a huge collection of books. This work is called the Seyahatnâme, which means "Book of Travel." It is a very long work made of ten volumes. He did not just write about famous kings or wars. Instead, he wrote about markets, customs, and even music. He used a mix of common and formal Turkish. This made his writing easy for many people to read. His books help us understand how life felt in the 17th century.

His travels took him across many different lands. He visited places in Europe, Asia, and Africa. In Bosnia, he saw a beautiful bridge in the town of Mostar. He thought the sculptures there looked like they were made by Heaven. He even traveled to Mecca for a religious pilgrimage.

Evliya was also very interested in how people spoke. He traveled to many regions like Albania, Bulgaria, and Crimea. He recorded about 30 different Turkic languages and dialects. He even noticed similarities between words in German and Persian. In the land of Shirvan, he saw oil bubbling out of the ground. He described how merchants collected this oil in goatskins to sell. These details show how much he noticed about the world around him.

Today, many people still celebrate his amazing life. UNESCO even included his 400th birthday in its special celebrations. You can find his name on streets in cities like Skopje.
