This star is much younger than our Sun. It is about one billion years old. Because it is young, it is very active. It has a strong stellar wind. This wind is 30 times stronger than our Sun's wind. The star looks orange because of its temperature.

It also has a large ring of dust around it. This is called a debris disc. Scientists found a giant planet in this system. The planet is named AEgir. It was named by students in Washington. These students used names from Norse myths. The star's name, Ran, is a sea goddess. AEgir is her husband. There is also a gap in the dust ring. This gap might mean other planets live there too.
