Dream yoga is a special way to practice meditation.

It is part of many Tibetan Buddhist traditions. People use it to stay aware while they sleep. This is often called lucid dreaming. A teacher usually passes this skill to a student. This happens through a special meeting of minds.

There are many steps to this practice. First, a person learns to know they are dreaming. They might try to fly or walk on water. Next, they learn to be brave. They might jump into fire or deep water. This helps them see that dream objects are not real. They learn to control the dream, too. They can make big things small or many things into one.

Some teachers say this helps people understand the mind. They use it to see the true nature of life. Some people even try to see holy figures in their dreams. This practice is linked to other ways of training the mind. It helps people stay aware during sleep and waking life.
