Dogs compete by jumping from a dock into water. Some dogs try to jump for distance. Others jump to see how high they can go. This sport brings people and dogs together. It is popular in the United States and many other places. You can find these events in the United Kingdom, Australia, Germany, and Austria.

\n\nA dock is the platform where the dog starts. It is usually 36 to 40 feet long. It is also about 8 feet wide. The dock sits 2 feet above the water. To keep dogs safe, the surface has artificial turf or rubber mats. This helps the dogs grip the floor well. The water must be at least 4 feet deep.

A person called a handler holds a toy. The jump only counts once the toy leaves the handler's hand.\n\nMeasuring the jump is a very important part. Most groups measure from the end of the dock.
