Her journey with horses started when she was only two years old. As a young child, she helped her sisters by moving horses. She even won second place in a pony club competition at age three. Later, she began training in dressage with help from her trainer, Debbie Thomas. She eventually found work with Carl Hester in Gloucestershire. There, she worked as a groom to learn more about horses. This hard work helped her become a world champion.

Sometimes, even great athletes face very difficult times. In 2024, Dujardin had to leave the Summer Olympics in Paris. A video showed her using a whip too much during training. Because of this, she received a one-year suspension from the FEI. The organization also gave her a fine of 10,000 Swiss Francs. This was a hard moment in her long career. She has also shared her story in a book called "The Girl on the Dancing Horse."
