He was a pioneer in the hotel industry. This means he was one of the first to create new ideas for luxury stays. He was so successful that people called him the "King of Hoteliers." His name became so famous that it created a new word. Today, we use the word "ritzy" to describe things that are very fancy or high-class. He wanted every guest to feel special and important.

His way of working was based on being very attentive.

Ritz believed that "the customer is always right." If a guest did not like their food or wine, he replaced it immediately. He did not ask any questions about the complaint. He also focused on hygiene, which is the study of staying clean.

He used washable paint and light fabrics in his hotels. This made it much easier to keep the rooms looking fresh and clean.

César's journey started in a very different way. He was born on February 23, 1850, in Niederwald, Switzerland.

He grew up in a large family with thirteen children. When he was fifteen, he worked as a wine waiter in a hotel. One boss even told him he would never succeed in hotels. Ritz did not let this stop him. He moved to Paris to find a new life and worked his way up from a waiter to a manager.

In 1889, Ritz moved to London to work at the Savoy Hotel.

However, Ritz left the Savoy in March 1898 after a scandal involving missing wine and spirits. Even so, he continued to build more hotels. He opened the famous Hôtel Ritz in Paris in late 1898. He also opened the Ritz in London in 1906 and a hotel in Madrid in 1910.

Even though he came from a humble farming family, his name is still linked to the most elegant places in the world.
