Today, riders use special bikes built for speed. Some bikes have 20-inch wheels. These are called "Class" bikes. Other bikes have larger wheels. These are called "Cruiser" bikes.

The track has many different parts. A start gate sits on a hill. This hill gives riders speed for the race. Tracks also have berms. These are turns set at an angle. They let riders turn without using brakes. Riders may also jump over "doubles." A double is two hills close together. Some jumps are called "tabletops." These are flat on top to help new riders. BMX racing is a big global sport. It was even part of the 2008 Olympics in Beijing. Many people around the world love to race.
