Some people think these books were written between 200 BC and 100 AD. Different groups of people have different ideas about them.

Many churches include these books in their Bibles. The Catholic Church calls them deuterocanonical books. This means they are part of the official Old Testament. The Eastern Orthodox Church also uses these texts. Some Protestant groups view them in a different way.

In the 1500s, Martin Luther put these books in a special section. He placed them between the Old and New Testaments.

He said they were not equal to other holy books. However, he thought they were good to read. He believed they could help people learn about history. He also thought they could teach good manners.

Other groups, like the Anglican Communion, use them for instruction. They might read these books during church services. Even today, many Bibles include the Apocrypha. Some people find them very useful for learning. They remain an important part of many religious traditions.
