Some people use science to reach goals. This is called applied science. It helps solve real problems in our world. This is different from basic science. Basic science looks for new ideas. It tries to explain how nature works. Applied science uses those ideas to do work.

One big part is engineering. Engineers use math and science to fix things. They make systems work better. They also make things more productive. There are many kinds of engineers. Some work with chemicals. Others work with buildings or electricity.

Applied science also helps in medicine. Doctors use biology and chemistry to treat people. They might study tiny germs. This is called medical microbiology.

We can also use it to study people. This is called applied psychology. It can help experts understand why criminals act certain ways. This helps them solve crimes.

Applied research is a way to find answers. It uses facts to help a business or a person. It can help a company make new products. It can also help people make wise choices. It deals with the messy real world. Because of this, researchers must be very clear about their work.
